The property is located in Clifton, Virginia. It has a bit of a contemporary feel, which is what we would like to carry on into the inside, as well as, “freshen up” the outside. No one has lived in the home for 2 years and was bank owned. Unfortunately, the bank never winterized the property causing many plumbing issues. The property had 4 previous contracts prior to us, but all 4 dropped because the bank refused to fix leaks, plumbing, etc. It was a very long process. We put our offer in around late January. They counter-offered and then we counter-offered. We finally settled at $300,000. (which is a steal because the land itself is worth $300,000. In 2006, the property had sold at $615,000!) We had a contract written up by February and FINALLY May 2nd we closed. Talk about a stressful few months. Dealing with a foreclosure can be a pain, but if you can get through it it’s worth the wait!

Me and my boyfriend are getting ready to fix up our first home too. Your house is so beautiful and very architecturally astounding! I look forward to reading your posts! Our house is a lot more simple, lol. It is a four bedroom cape cod style home, pretty small, about 1,100 sq feet, but that does not include the basement which we will be finishing off for more living space!. I will be posting pics of the new house soon, I just have to wait until we close.

Aww, thank you! We are so excited! It’s a tad overwhelming, though. We only have time to work on the weekends since B works during the weekdays. I look forward to reading your posts and following you! We love love love cape cod style homes! Where are you located? New England area? Unfortunately, we won’t be able to move in till after the wedding in October.

We live in northeastern, NY. By that I mean very close to both the border to Vermont and the Canadian border.
Thats too bad that you have to wait until October to move in, but I am SURE it will be worth the wait and all the renovating! I can not wait to see the end result.

Love NY! Went to Iona College in New Rochelle. Know NY very well! Great place to live! Close to so many great places!
So true, yet I could do without the harsh winters. Actually, this past winter was our warmest yet, so I shouldn’t complain, but I prefer warm weather and sun ALL year round.
